Charlie in San Diego
Husar, Charlie [USA] (ASE)2013-05-23 19:35 UTC
Hi, George. Regrettably, I leave at 7AM tomorrow (Fri) morning. Weather here is dull anyway. 70 degrees, sunny, mild southerly, every day... Yawn... Well, it has been a bit cloudy in the mornings... the "May Gray", I believe.

They are the same, Tom. I happen to have a 1969 (maybe a 1968?) and a 1974. I know sources for new rails as well. Old ones are hard to reinstall.
Greetings from a conference room in San Diego.

My question is will rub rails for a 1974 Cal 25 fit on my 1969 Cal 25?

Charlie,
I live in San Diego, and several years ago you visited me on my Cal 40 at Silver Gate Yacht club. I would've enjoyed seeing you again, but not this trip I guess. I hope you enjoyed your stay and let me know if you come back this way.

Charlie,
May gray. Never heard of such a thing.
What about June Gloom?
Actually, by the time the wind pipes up around noon, it also blows away the clouds.
Also, the weather goes in multiple day cycles, from sunny and light to cloudy and light, to cloudy and windy, to sunny and windy, and back to sunny and still. But, yeah, it's consistently boring perfect sailing weather, really dull...except for an occasional sudden Gale to confuse the unwary sailor...like we had last week.

What about May? I launched the Cal 20 on Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday,
when my brother could have helped me step the mast, it was so cloudy I
could not have found the boat, much less the marina where we could
work. Thursday we had a stiff wind from the north so it was cold and
the boats were bouncing on the moorings.
Maybe next week....

Chris, I guess it beats getting slammed by a super-tornado, huh?

If "Nixon in China" can be turned into a Broadway musical, why not "Charlie in San Diego" It has a nice ring to it. Now, San Diego would be a far safer place for this years America's Cup with those outrageous AC 72's, but the people in San Fran probably won't hear of it.

Twas the non-sailing locals who told me about May gray. Morning overcast that burns off as the AM progresses.
We are about to set out for some spinnaker running in 20Kts. Might need some donations to the “Charlie Needs a New Spinnaker Fund”. The show could be more like “The Producers”. It is chilly out as well. Strange May here.
Cheers, Anyway
