Cal 40 Beams
to… [at] yahoo.com2013-06-01 02:15
So I did the beam in my 2-29 and have my eye on a Cal 40 in Wilmington which I have loved since childhood. Do Cal 40's have transverse beam corrosion problems? How many beams do they have? Thanks for any info on this and any other tidbits on assessing a Cal 40. Much appreciated.

The Cal 40 has a beam under the mast step and it is subject to corrosion,
especially in the head. In my boat I did not replace it but cut a hole in
the glass step and used a 4 inch deck port to make an inspection port to
see the beam. I would certainly look at it carefully.
