Jim, have you thought about bringing those back to the cockpit. Extremely handy. Especially for the chute.

Anyone know where I could get a mast winch pads for the cal 29 to accommodate a barient 10? My boat has one on the port side for the jib. I would like to add a second on the starboard side for the spin halyard.
Thanks,
East Coast Cal 29 sailor

I appreciate the suggestion about leading aft, but I have never liked the
halyards going back to the cockpit. I sailed j/24 where everything was on
the mast and I liked it. It spreads the crew out and makes the cockpit a
more open area for trimmers and the helmsman. It also makes mast man and
foredeck person a close team. I did similar things on other big boats and
liked it.
I am thinking of putting a double harken cleat on the mast up high so that
in most condition it can just be jumped and cleated, but would like the
winch and horn cleat as a backup in a blow.
