he… [at] sbcglobal.netbrad.
..you need 5 stands 4 med sailboat (Bronnell?) and one stright for the
nose...under the keel you need 12 in of base rock maybe order on truck
load of base rock and rent vibe-plate compactor and work the base rock into
the soil keel is 5-6 ft long aprox 12" wide I think the stands should be 10
ft apart back to back and 6-8 ft apart side to side...You also need 20 feet
of chain to tie the side stands together...good luck.....
However I MUST CAUTION you that home projects sometimes take years
longer than you think weather earth quakes ... any disaters can stop work
as new wife old wife...job changes...health ...many things will keep you
from compeleting your project(S)...
If you haul in a busy DO IT YOURSELF (DIY) yard you tend to keep foscased
and work harder...we hauled our Cal 29 "Noah's Kid" 1st time 5 weeks
...2nd time 2weeks yard charges $11 ft press wash in and out $25 lay days
...also if your boat needs this much work find a more worthy project...also
if you doing inside work the time
you need mesure or fit you must climb ladder ...
after you pay for stands haul delivery maybe buy a boat that needs less
work ..that you SAIL HOME edward "Caliente" Cal36 #60...good luck
...We bought or boat 400 miles away south... repowered eng.....from 800
miles north 88 hours motoring to Santa Cruz..then though the "gate" then to
haul out "Berekely Marine center" 5-6 weeks have been racing last 21 weds
beer cans (7 togo)
if we trucked home she would STILL BE IN our YARD

Thank you Edward. That is all good information to know.
The boat was more or less a gift (paid less than $1300 for it), and I now
live seven hours from the marina where it is docked. The restoration I
plan to do will be a complete retro fit of the interior and repair of
blemishes or issues on the hull, along with new paint. As for the time
issue, I am nearly retired and the restoration will be my new job until it
is complete, at which point we will begin cruising. My wife will be
heavily involved too.
Your point about the "up and down" ladders is very true, which is why I
plan to build a very wide and sound scaffold around the boat after it is
delivered that will include water-tight storage for all tools, shade,
probably some fans, and fixed electrical service so that drop cords that
become disconnected do not drop over the side, and so on. When the project
is complete all of that scaffold can be used to build a new deck for our
home on the farm, including space for a new hot tub! I may get really
ambitious and put some weather-proof areas in so that neither winter cold
or summer heat will get in the way of working -- but that remains to be
seen.
Again, thank you for the important information and your advice. I am
pretty sure the group will read about the results when I finish.
Best Regards,
