Chris, my experience is that you would find the old vinyl to be stiff and maybe even brittle. I'll be curious to see if that works.
I had mentioned that we have a decaying CAL 20 at our CAL 25 dock in Annapolis. Slider hatch is still intact and in place. Are you interested in some measurements? It is a single part slider, correct?

Looks like the right stuff, assuming that the aluminum frame is the same size in its channel width & depth. What's up with the gray silicone to "seal the window to the frame"--I thought the vinyl did that? Is it just to back up the vinyl seal? The kit is a bit oversized, in terms of length and volume, for a Cal 20 project (it supplies 45 feet for 6 windows).
Maybe adding a sealer like silicone and reassembling the old vinyl would work.

Charlie,
I am interested in the measurements if you wouldn't mind taking them for me. It sure would be a help.

Charlie:
Somebody else was looking for the Cal 20 sliding hatch. I think was
Mike, who replied to your offer of dimensions. If the Cal 20 in your
area is beyond salvation, maybe the hatch could be available to him?
I do hate to encourage destruction or parting-out of these cool little
boats, but if one is headed for the dumpster anyway, then making good
use of the components is appropriate.

Chris, the boat belongs to an elderly gentlemen who has had good intentions of fixing her up for some years. As time goes on, it becomes less likely. The hard part of scarfing parts is how to get rid of the remains.

How bad off is it, or can you tell? I need another boat like a hole in my head but for the price I might consider it.
