Totally different animals.
The 3-30 is a IOR design with a fractional rig.
Might be better comparing the Cal 9.2 and the 3-30.

Cal 3-30 is an ior design but it is not factional. It's a mast head rig.
It is keel stepped mast, it has a bolt on keel vs the molded in one, it is
wider and deeper and it's fairly heavy for it length, but seems to be
reasonable quick for it's size.
I know they are different. Just looking for someone who has had some
tiller time.
from what I have read, people that haven't sailed them tend to make claims
about how they sail that people who have owned them tend to refute.
I am interested in things like feel on the helm(how heavy is it), how does
it track down wind, tendency to broach, how comfortable is the normal
sitting position(assuming it's up on the coaming, sailing from an tiller
extension). Light air vs heavy air performance and so on.

The Cal 9.2 is a Ron Holland design licenced from Jenneau , the 3-30 was
the last lapworth design evolution.
again significant differences.

I know of some folks who want to sell a race rigged 2-30. That would better compare to the 29.
Cheers

I crewed on RAMPAGE a Cal 2-30 for the MORA races in 1978. An excellent
heavy air boat, very good out in the ocean.

Sorry, It's the 3-30 I am interested in. I Don't mean to offend any 2-30
or 9.2 lovers out there, they are just not on my radar at the moment.
