ocean wanderer, we always monitor channel 16, in SF bay even. Dutchess 22 just sent a very decent message and probably sails in serious waters also. having commercial fished also, I respect your experience and know you have probably gotten more than your share of stupid calls. Some of the listers here sail in little lakes/bays. Recently we heard the CG reprimand a sea scout ship that got two miles off the coast of monterey and began telling everybody on 16 about a pod of dolphins. Perhaps some of the listers are in learning mode on this topic, and could use positive comments and instructions, as I'm sure they are receptive to being better informed as to their potential needs and help to others in need in the marine environment. They must know that vessel traffic is very important info, especially in shipping areas or routes. Please be a part of the educational process that goes on here. (aside from the guy who may have referred to recycling his vhf, don't really want to see him in my neck of the waters.) Helen
