Flitz?

Hi, All, and Happy Holidays. Has anyone had any experience with using Flitz metal cleaner/polish? Is yes, is it good stuff? Is paste or liquid better? Cheers Charlie Annapolis

Charlie, I have to use a lot of polish on the boat I work aboard (fancy 85' gaff-rigged ketch). Flitz works ok as long as your brass/stainless isn't too mucky. I have found that a product called star klean works best at getting even the green stuff off and then, to protect it afterwards, I rub on Collinite metal wax. It creates an oxygen barrier of sorts and keeps the shine longer. If it's only light polishing, the flitz liquid works just fine. I also use a product from Maas. It's a cleaner first and then a polish application. It works well on the interior brass as it's not too bad to begin with. Stay away from NOX7 found in your supermarket as it won't work well. The Star Klean isn't carried in west marine. Local chandeliers will probably carry it. Otherwise you have to order it online. It's pricy at $20/tube, but worth it in time saved and frustration. A little also goes a long way. The collinite is available at west and everywhere boat yard workers get their stuff. Keep it local if you can; mom and pop need the business. Hope this helps. Cheers! :-) "Husar, Charlie [USA] (ASE)" <hu… [at] bah.com> wrote: >Hi, All, and Happy Holidays. > >Has anyone had any experience with using Flitz metal cleaner/polish? >Is yes, is it good stuff?
