Hello Everyone,
The 39th annual Fort Lauderdale to Key West Race starts Wednesday, January 15th. This year, thirty-five boats are registered in five classes.
My wife, Brenda, and I are crewing on Sempre Amantes, a Hunter Passage 42 foot sloop. Our start time is at 1320 (1:20 pm) hours. The race is 160 nm and will take us about 24 hours to cross the finish line. This year the weather predictions are for northerly winds 22-27 knots (25-31 mph) and temperatures around 50F overnight. It's likely to be a cold and wild ride.
Each boat is to carry a SPOT position transponder. If you are interested in following the race, click here. For more information, go to http://www.keywestrace.org/
