Sources of metal:
Speedymetals.com
Onlinemetals.com
Both places will cut to length and ship to you very reasonably priced.
T304SS is OK if you keep them dry and well sealed.
If you drill holes yourself, the slower you turn the drill bit and the more
pressure you put on the bit the better luck you'll have. If the drill bit
slips on the cutting edge it work hardens the SS and makes it harder.

Use Cobalt drill bits. Not to be confused with Kobalt.

And just a warning to people who will use their woodworking table saw to
cut metals--you've got to clean it our completely of all wood dust so
sparks from metal cutting don't ignite the wood debris. Otherwise you
may have a very unpleasant surprise.
