Thanks for sharing this Joe. It just goes to show, you may have a Captain's license and some experience, but common sense is also required. Putting out to sea when a hurricane is forecast, even in an aircraft carrier, is not a decision to be taken lightly when lives are at stake. I have ridden out three hurricanes aboard "Satori" our Cal Cruising 46, back in the bayou, fully prepared, by myself and if she had sunk, I could walk ashore. I was still anxious. Our sympathy for the deceased crew's families.
