Hi, All. Don't know if have any list folks in that area. Pretty scary. Especially when it is the person next to you who could have caused it. Fire destroys several boats in La Conner [http://media.king5.com/images/022114boatsonfire1.jpg] by KING 5 News and Associated Press KING5.com Posted on February 22, 2014 at 12:58 AM Updated Saturday, Feb 22 at 1:35 PM LA CONNER, Wash.-- At least ten boats were destroyed or damaged after a fast moving fire burned at a marina in the small town of La Conner Friday afternoon. A dock full of yachts caught fire at the Shelter Bay Marina just after 4:00 p.m. says Kevin Noyes, Skagit County Deputy Fire Marshal. More than ten fire agencies raced to the scene. "The heat just expands out and starts melting the fiberglass and everything around it and it's a domino effect," says Noyes. Witnesses said the fire started on one boat and spread thought the dock, completely destroying 7 boats with another 3 to 5 damaged. The flames spread from boat to boat, which were 40 ft. fiberglass yachts. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Crews will start planning how to dive and salvage the boats that have sunk Saturday.

This is when it pays to have insurance, for all concerned. Years ago a dock in Crescent City, Ca went up when somebody cooking(I think) left his commercial fishing boat to go up the dock for a minute. In the case of commercial fisherman, it's not just a boat, it's your job too. My old boat was destroyed in a yard fire when a crackhead broke into the boat next to us and dropped his crack pipe or somehow caught that boat on fire and it spread to ours. It was for sale at the time so it just saved us some time trying to sell it so it was a blessing in disguise really. Lucky thing was that I had put off contacting our insurance company to see if we could reduce the coverage since it was going to be on the hard until it sold.
