Hi, ???, we had a recent thread on that topic. The picture below is from Seals Spars in CA (Steve Seals – he calls them gunnel rubbers). D&R in MA (Rudy Nickerson) also has the rub rail sections. My experience is with D&R. The white rub rails from D&R do not chalk. I’ve had them on my boat(s) for many years. Do not know about availability of black, or the non-chalkability of the Seals white parts. The lumpiness is caused either by insufficient stretching at install, ot the presence of the pop rivets in the deck-hull joint (easlly seen with rail removed). Rivets are not structural. They hold the deck and hull in place during glassing of the joint. I can send you an install instruction if you like. You need some extra length to properly stretch the rail. Warm is very important. I want the black rubber and not white stuff again. the white does not seem as uv stabile as the black. are there any tricks to getting it to lay in right so it looks uniform, tight and without bulging in spots like some of the installs on a few of the cal 20's I see locally. the rail profile for the 20' boats seem like its too small for application on a 34. thanks for the help...
