Fw: Green Dragon, follow-up

To: The Cal-List ... if you've not already seen it, it's quite amazing: : http://socalsailingnews.com/?p=849<http://socalsailingnews.com/?p=849> And .... Green Dragon rates PHRF 39 .... essentially 75 seconds-per-mile faster than the Cal-40 at 114. No wonder they were coming down on the Cal-40 so fast ! It seems that the boat is owned by a Gary Green from DRYC. From the internet, it seems that they were looking for paid crew, or something like that. "Green Dragon 2" is a Beneteau First 44.7 berthed in Marina del Rey, California. We have a full sail inventory and race PHRF in local weeknight, random leg and mid-distance races. Looking for a crew manager to organize crew, serve as tactician and as relief driver on longer races. Substantial, recent experience racing 40+ boats in competitive Southern California venues sought. Compensation negotiable, depending on duration of each race. Travel costs available for distance races. http://www.sailingnetworks.com/boats/view/12253<http://www.sailingnetworks.com/boats/view/12253> Sent: Monday, August 04, 2014 3:34 PM Subject: Santa Barbara to King Harbor Race Video - Cal 40 Celebrity Gets Run Down! | SoCal Sailing News Have you all seen this one ? It was taken during the recent Santa Barbara to King Harbor race. From what I can tell, both boats are reaching on port gybe. Green Dragon is sailing faster and deeper, and essentially "rear-ends" Celebrity (Jerry Finnegan's Cal-40 No. 100). Then, Green Dragon appears to just sail away as if nothing happened, as if Celebrity should not have been in their way. INCREDIBLE !! http://socalsailingnews.com/?p=849<http://socalsailingnews.com/?p=849>

Fin, It reminds me of drivers on I-95 here in south Florida, as they seem to believe that cars ahead are the burdened vehicle. I trust Green Dragon was DSQ'd for that blatant failure to keep clear.... hopefully the boat is being penalized for the rest of the season through YRA or whatever org. sponsored the race/series. and of course there should be a fix-it bill to the guy with the deep pockets.Helen On Tuesday, August 5, 2014 9:12 AM, "Michael D md… [at] yahoo.com [Cal_Boats]" <Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com> wrote: Fin, It reminds me of drivers on I-95 here in south Florida, as they seem to believe that cars ahead are the burdened vehicle.
