Cal 34-III lubricating the rudder stem/post???
ce… [at] rocketmail.com2014-09-17 17:49 UTC
can anyone tell me how the rudder post is supposed to be lubed on a cal 34-3... wheel steering.
all I see is the fiberglass reinforcement tubes (upper and lower) that the rudder stem is held by.... but im not sure how to lube it or if it even needs lubed... the wheel easily turns the rudder, but during haul out the rudder was pretty stiff to turn by hand during inspection, so i thought maybe it should be lubed.... thanks

I always put a bit of grease on my rudder shaft when I haul out. My dad
drilled a small hole and installed a grease fitting in the fiberglass
rudder post on his 2-27 to keep it lubed.

My Cal 39 has two grease nipples glassed into the rudder post tube down near the waterline.
