North Sails are at their cheapest right now. Talk to your local rep. Where are you located? I'm looking to make adjustments to either point a bit higher or find more speed through adjustments etc. What are folks doing to make the Cal 2-29 perform at it's optimum whether it be specific upwind or downwind sail configurations...rigging adjustments. For example, my 150 and 110 foresail is still rigged off the of the stock genoa track. I'm considering upgrading sails to more higher end to have better shape but those are expensive adjustments.

Yes, I've got a good contact with North Sails...sadly the person whom I've purchased sails is moving on ...purchased a nice Code 1 last year. I have a request for recommendations from their team already in play. So Randy, Sails would be a good upgrade....do you recommend a sail other than the higher end radian series? I've never pushed to have a "racing sail" but noticed I'm one of the few boats that don't have the fancy laminated sails. The other issues is addressing the limitation of the head sail outside of the lower shrouds...I've send another Cal 2-29 with the track in-board of the lower shroud...wondering if such a modification has any benefit to pursue...would have to limn the size of the head sail. I've

James, It depends on your wind conditions and sail cut...we found with a 29 the 155% can stay up in moderate wind up to about 24 knots with a reefed main. Keeping a crew of at least 4 and a heel angle of 18deg with a 20 deg. limit. With the 29 boat speed (go fast) is most important then pointing. Plan you tacks in advance, its better to plan ducking ones stern early than last min. you will find that the next tack (if done correctly) you will be crossing his bow. just a couple of cents out of 29. I race pretty much. 3 to 7 times a month. I used a radian main for 3 years. I had over 350 races not including Wet Wednesday's. I use a NORLAM head sail. It has been very Forgiving of my crew. With plastic sails, I ease the backstay (sag the forestay quite a bit) upwind. Counterintuitive, but it works. Jib halyard quite loose as well. All this flattens the entry of the jib luff, I believe. YRMV Now I’m off on an overnighter race to Rock Hall on the Eastern Shore of MD.
