Imagine -
3 miles deep.
Inches to closest friends.
Farthest from land on earth.
Closest to heaven this side of breathing.
Horizon to horizon winking stars on a moonlight night.
Sleeping to the gentle roar of slipping through the water.
Blinding tentacles of lightening from inky clouds.
The soft buzz of blue flying fish leaving the bow.
Competing against world class sailors.
Silent admiration- all victors.
Big water.
Small boat.

It is difficult for us to share the complete experience of ocean sailing in an article, like facets of a diamond, the brilliance is only revealed when each nuance and angle is observed by the admirer.
Do it now if you can.
This past July, the 50 year old PYC yacht "California Girl" participated in a tenth race to Hawaii by her international crew and PYC owners / sailors Victoria and Timm Lessley.
The course, San Francisco to Kaneohe is 2,070 miles by jetliner and fourteen full days by wind.
[IMG_3386][IMG_1385]California Girl took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the same [IMG_1389] instant;
1st to finish, 2nd corrected, and 3rd in one design. A few cocktails are required to explain how this is possible. or not.
The 10th Hawaiian race had doors opening and
closing - reflecting the balance of life.
Burial of a 30 year crewmember and mother at sea, Betty "Boop" Lessley, her 9½ trip to Hawaii.
Celebration of three proud sailing countries; New Zealand, Canada, and USA...
A marriage proposal on the delivery crew, the beginning of a new life partnership.
Victoria's 60th Birthday.
25th celebration of the Lessley's marriage bliss.
Imagine -
"We clear the harbor and the wind catches her sails and my beautiful ship leans over ever so gracefully, and her elegant bow cuts cleanly into the increasing chop of the waves. I take a deep breath and my chest expands and my heart starts thumping so strongly I fear the others might see it beat through the cloth of my jacket. I face the wind and my lips peel back from my teeth in a grin of pure joy." ― L.A. Meyer<http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/170658.L_A_Meyer>,
Live and enjoy,
Do it now if you can.
