In need of a strut for Cal 29
ba… [at] gmail.com2014-10-21 23:09 UTC
I thought I would take a long shot and see if anyone on here might have or know of someone that has a strut for a Cal 29. I recently discovered a lot of vibration while operating astern and come to find out the lower part of prop strut is broken. You never know, maybe someone salvaged one off of a boat that is no longer a boat.
Thanks,
Curtis

I have several struts from various boats I have salvaged after hurricanes. I don't remember which boats, however no Cal Boats. If you want to send me the exact dimensions, very detailed I will see if any I have will fit.
I have a load of bronze scrap to take to the salvage yard as they are paying $2.20 a pound.
I remember having two struts built by Buck Algonquin several years back and they were very expensive

Give me your dimensions of your strut
I pay between $100 and $300 for struts and for a bit extra have the cutless (cutlass) bearing machined installed with set screws at the factory.
Shipping is of course not included.
If you have any interest.
Let me know.

I have a strut from a Cal 2-27, 1975 model. It may be the same as the
part you need. Joe DeMers

Curtis,
When I hauled two years ago, we found a crack in our 2-27 strut. We removed it, and let a local prop shop make a new one... this time out of SS. It only took a few days to get done. Are you sure you want to "fix" the problem with a used strut? Nothing lasts forever, and you may just be delaying the inevitable.

Textured interior paint?
Adam2014-10-27 22:47 UTC
I need to spot paint some portions of my '75 2-27 cabin. The interior of the doghouse and the undersides of the deck appear to have been painted -- and I think this is from the factory -- with something like a white non-skid paint. Does anyone know what it is? Plain white paint using some sort of texturing roller? A gelcoat additive? Or?
Thanks,
Adam
