Re: Stepping a Cal 28 mast
Thank you all for your advice.
It is true that a tabernacle exerts a lot of counter forces, especially early in the lift. I know of one that ripped out of the deck and of course the mast came down hard. When we were putting my brother's mast up this weighed heavy on my mind of course. We started up with just the main sheet but it felt like it was working too hard and working off axis shearing against the tabernacle. Adding the second lifting line helped a lot.
