Re: [Cal_Boats] Who got the boom thing? [1 Attachment]
Well, the tang (stainless-steel strap) hanging from the outer end of the
boom was originally used to attach the mainsheet to the end of the boom,
the CAL 27, like most CALs of that time came with end-boom sheeting as
standard and most likely had a traveler across the aft end of the cockpit
(or a pair of blocks on the cockpit combings near the aft end of the
cockpit for a triangle-rig type mainsheet) (on our CAL 21 the mainsheet
started at a becket on top of one block, went up to a double-block on the
boom end, back Down to the opposite block, up to the boom block then back
to the first block and to a cleat located near the center of the stern
deck.).

A picture of the mysterious boom attachment on a CAL 27 is attached.
This boom attachment is missing on my CAL 34 (Hull number 13 1967).
Does anyone know what this is and how it is used?
