Hi, Grae. In the past I've used SS hose clamps around the mast. Worked quite well. Another option is a hole in the front of the mast where you can insert a hex driver that puts a nut onto a machine screw that you inserted into the slider track from the back. You'll end up with a few nuts down inside the mast base before you're done. There is definitely a lot of creativity required for this nagging little (big) problem. I figure my options are: 1- reposition the slide lower (the cunningham strap always had the boom at the lowest point anyhow) 2- drillout larger and re-thread the mast mounting holes 3-use timesert/helicoil inserts. option 1, I don't like because that's just more holes in the mast weakening it option 2, I think the slide would not take the larger hole without making it to weak option 3, I've never used either before although I read good write ups, but the they're really designed for deeper holes and not sure they'll work with the thin cross section of the mast. Does anyone have any suggestions or has fixed this issue, or something similar, before?
