I had to rig my 29 for spin gear. I put andersons on the dog house for my
spin sheet and guy.
I think I put the anderson 12 on there, but I would have to check to
confirm.
The Anderson 18 and 12 are very similar in size. the 18 has a steeper gear
ratio.
I am pretty sure I went w the 12, thinking I wanted speed for trimming over
power.

I’ve gone the opposite direction. Nemesis was very well equipped a a racer in her prime, with winches and sails galore. During my 21 years with her I’ve never used the secondaries, nor flown any of her three symmetrical chutes. If I fly the A sail, I hoist it after I roll up the genoa. Last weekend a racer friend wondered why I didn't just remove the Merriman 22’s and relocate the self tailing Lewmar 42’s forward. Heretical though it may sound, I did so and immediately realized I should have down so years ago. It freed up space on the coaming so that I can actual steer from up there, and made it so that I can see the winch and the sail while trimming. And when I do sail with crew, it will eliminate some of the congestion in the cockpit. I doubt that it’s why I won the cruising class in this weekend’s regatta, but Jon assure me it was. I do know that it was absolutely the right thing to have done.
Nemesis’ serious racing days are behind her. and the two of us are shifting to single handed cruising. The next step will be the installation of the radar mast to handle an older radar that fell into my hands last summer. The mast goes through, and bolts to, the top of the transom then attaches to a reinforced area near the waterline. It is attached to the stern pulpit and will support the scanner, a GPS antenna, fog horn, floodlight, flag halyard and outboard hoist. I’m really looking forward to having it in place before the summer curing season, when I hope to revisit Barclay Sound on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
It’s been a rest winter of sailing on Puget Sound, and I hope those of you just getting ready to launch around the country have as goos a sailing season.
