Cal 3-27 or 27 Mk 3

I'm considering the purchase of a 1985 Cal 3-27. From what I've read, it's lighter than the 2-27 and was in production for only 3 years. Does anyone have comments about this model?
Thanks,

David, while you are researching, check out Steve Seals website on the rigging of the 27s, I think his old boat is for sale in redwood city. I have looked at it, pretty clean, with running diesel. Helen

David,
I just purchased an 85 3-27 last week. It’s really quite a nice boat and a decade newer than a lot of the other boats I had been looking at. There is really a dearth of information on the boat due to its short production run. The cabin height is significantly lower than the 2-27 - probably around 5’10” which I find pretty annoying. The galley area is significantly smaller than the previous models as well. It’s nice having the extra seating and an extra quarter berth where the stove slider is but that’s realisitcally just going to be used for storage. I haven’t had it long enough to really get to know it but so far it seems like a great boat.
