Re: [Cal_Boats] Cal 29 rudder post deck plate replacement
I ran into something similar with my 2-29. When purchased it had no access cover over the rudder post. I bought an access plate from WM and it did not fit the hole. So I made a transitional cookie out of Starboard material (cutting board) and mounted my access flange with threads to that. Additionally, I machined all but the last 1/2" of thread off the plug to make it quick release. When the steering quadrant blew out and lost steering, the plug came off by hand...and the steering tee was close by...that saved a crew of 7 from hitting the rocks in 24knots of wind
Hope this helps

Subject: [Cal_Boats] Cal 29 rudder post deck plate replacement
My cap is shattered...brittle...it is also not your standard 4" deck access plate.
Does anybody have a source that would match the 4-1/2" thread..and is that the right size? I'm hoping somebody crossed this bridge at some point.
Cheers everybody.
