Talk about spiders brings me to another pesky problem we have, barn swallows. Yes, the cute little guys that probably eat their weight in mosquitos every day like to perch on our lifelines and poop. Maybe they eat spiders too. They have their nests under the docks and will sometimes fly at you, as if they're defending their territory. Some people put foil on their lifelines to discourage them, but I think it's just nature taking it's course, and I'll deal with the poop and enjoy seeing them swooping over the water sucking up the bugs.David Dobbs, CAL29 411
