Cal 39 Opening Ports

Rick Stuntz2015-07-13 19:06 UTC
I am looking to replace the original plastic opening ports (four in total) on my 1979 Cal 39 with stainless steel ports from New Found Metals. Anyone have experience installing the Newfound Metals product who can provide me with any feedback, pro or con? Any cautions or special installation tips I should be aware of? Thanks very much for the help! Rick Stuntz S/V Hotspur Annapolis, MD ri… [at] gmail.com <mailto:ri… [at] gmail.com>

Rick, No installation experience here, but I did take a close look at them while at the Miami Boat show in February. They look well built, and I wish I had used them on my boat when I replaced our Beckson ports years ago. Live & learn... The ports I am replacing are in terrible shape. They are the 36 year old original plastic ports, and over time they have warped such that they must be caulked shut to avoid leaks. The outside edges of the ports are also broken.
