Charlie- I've had good luck with Sea Foam. Found at NAPA and Walmart. Best thing is not to put more fuel in your tank than you will burn in a month.

Best answer is to not use ethanol gas, to never store your engine with fuel in it and burn the last drop out of the tank at the end of the season..,
Otherwise you’ll be replace the carburetor often – the ethanol ruins them.
If you google non ethanol gas in your area you should find a number of locations that don’t put corn in your gas.

I agree that its best to use proper gas, but if that's not possible, there are 2 products that are good. Sea Foam, as already mentioned, and StarTron. I use StarTron in my Honda generator and in my dinghy outboard. Never had a problem even using ethanol gas.

OMC and now Bombardier do still use those one-way valves on their
plastic, "DURATANKS" (3 and 6 gallon). At least mine has that (purchased
in about 2005-6). Tank is fine if not out in the sun, but like the metal
tanks... a little loosening of the filler cap releases the pressure.
Those OMC/Bombardier DuraTanks can withstand a good amount of pressure,
and I guess in a way were way ahead of their time.... New
Outboard/portable tanks now (plastic or metal) must have those one-way
valves with a 5psi safety "blow-off" relief in order to meet current EPA
standards. Of course with no way for normal pressure to vent out.....
when you try to attach the hose to the outboard you get sprayed with gas
(unless your fuel hose has a "demand" valve that only lets gas out when
the engine sucks it out), so... the recommendation is to always crack
open the filler cap on new tanks before connecting to the outboard (or
connecting fuel line to tank if removable), which does what? That's
right..... it releases the built-up pressure and fumes into the air.....
just what the one-way valve is there to prevent! Another example of great
government policies!

Someone should invent a one way spring loaded air vent, but maybe it

OMC used to use little one-way air vents (anti-vacuum) on their steel gas
tanks . They're not feasible with the plastic tanks, which can balloon
out with pressure.
