1968 CAL 2-30 History Revealed

I have been piecing together the history of my 1968 CAL 2-30 since I bought her in January 2013. In the first year I located original owner documents sealed and tucked away under a settee and there I began my research, I sensed that I had aquired a special boat when I read the name of the first owner, his signature on vessel documents. Through communications, after locating the original owner's sons this month, I now have pictures and news articles from my boats first two years of original ownership. The original owner was the American screenwriter, Karl Tunberg. Karl's sons still have Windswift trophies and photos and tell me that Karl loved this boat and that they had won "many, many, many races with the boat". Karl Tunberg wrote many screen plays, including the screen play for the 1959 Ben-Hur motion picture. Karl and his sons avidly raced Windswift, under the Marina de Rey's California Yacht Club burgee. Windswift, that is the name Karl had given the boat when new so I restored her original name since I had not yet named her (she had no name on here when purchased). The Tunberg sons and I are planning a Tunberg/Windsift reunion in San Diego later this year. In the past three years Windswift has had her top and bottom repainted (hence the no name when I bought her), engine replaced (with a good running used A-4), standing rigging replaced (last month) and all through hulls and valves replaced (2014). I'll post some pictures below, one is Windswift racing off of Marina del Rey, in 1969. Kind regards to all, -Bryan "Windswift"
