Mast painting

Like everyone else in the great white north my season has come to an end and my boat is about to go on the hard for 7 months. During this offseason I would like to paint my mast. I am considering using multiple cans of Rustoleum appliance white one part epoxy (with the appropriate aluminum primer) but I would like to hear if anyone has found a better approach. Several days ago someone was looking for an A-chute for a Cal 227, this ad has appeared in our local racing news if there is still some interest I could check out the sail. North Sails Asymmetrical Spinnaker with Sock: Great shape, basically brand new. Made for a Newport 27S. I tried it out on my Newport 27mkII and it fit great. Would work for any boat this size like a Catalina 27 or C&C 27. This sail belongs to one of our customers and is a steal at $700. I have it in my possession if you wish to see it. When we do ours next year we are going to use Interlux Perfection. It's a 2 part paint but it levels well and is very tough. Of course ours is a 55' mast so I only want to do it once every 10 years. Here is a link to our mast rebuild/painting project. We stripped it and sanded it to bare metal. It was treated with Alumiprep/Alodine, primed with zimc chromate, three coats of Awlgrip primer, and followed with two top coats. It's been six years, and it still looks great. Don't forget to get a mast step plate. It was well worth the investment. https://www.flickr.com/photos/stefsail/sets/72157622081060993/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | View on www.flickr.com | Preview by Yahoo | | | | | Michael s/v Magic, 1979 Cal 2-27, #627Pompano Beach, FL From: "Greg vanDalen no… [at] yahoo.com [Cal_Boats]" <Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com> To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, September 23, 2015 4:05 PM Subject: Re: [Cal_Boats] Mast painting When we do ours next year we are going to use Interlux Perfection. Whoever was looking for a spinnaker for a Cal 27-2 there are 6 used ones listed on my web site, which searches multiple vendors for sails that will fit any given boat. http://l-36.com/sails.php?boat=Cal+27-2&i=36&j=12&fs=37.9%28est%29&p=30.8&e=10.3&isp=36&jsp=12&py=&ey=&sail=asymmetric&lp0=90&lp1=155&luff_min=90&luff_max=98&luff_min_spin=85&luff_max_spin=95 On Wed, Sep 23, 2015 at 1:31 PM, Michael D md… [at] yahoo.com [Cal_Boats] < Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com> wrote: > > > Here is a link to our mast rebuild/painting project.
