Bow CAL 2-25
TomDressler2016-01-31 20:04 UTC
And since we have been on the topic of 2-25’s.
My ’78 is missing something at the very bow.
It looks like a piece of trim was removed when a Harken roller fuller was installed and the trim was not replaced.
Does anyone have a ‘complete’ bow and you can send me a pic of it? What am I missing?
Here’s what mine looks like. It doesn’t leak, it’s just wrong.
Apologies for the apparent potato camera.
Thanks.

Hope this helps. I am looking for the rub rail insert, I would like to keep the setup I have and just buy the rubber insert, and ideas?

Hi, Keith. Go on the web to Taco Marine (also called Taco Metals), and see if anything fits the bill.

I will take a picture of my bow tomorrow. I think Charlie's assessment is right, it might be something added not missing.
As for the rub rail insert question, I've heard of 2-25 owners replacing the original 2-part rubrail with a rubber gunnel, like the original flat top Cal 25 or Cal 20. If your 2-25 is a 2 part with an insert, I think you'll have measure the insert with calipers or something. Taco is a big supplier, and may even have a display at your local boat store. I also saw that a co called Great Lakes Skipper has a 1" insert in beige, if that is the right size and color.

Yessir.
That looks like it. Thanks Keith!
What is that thing? Is it metal? And its for ramming?
:-)
I need rubrails also. I'll check that Taco Metals.

Yes Tom, it is painted metal. I have not used it for ramming, but give me time and I'm sure I'll hit something.

Thanks Mike.
Clearly, something is missing from my bow.
What’s that stuff floating in the water?

All Cals I have seen have a small metal cowl near the stern on each side that through-bolts the rub rail end to hold it in place. It looks like the 2-25 has a similar arrangement at the front. I guess this goes with the insert type of rail. I would have thought that the rubber part of the rail would wrap around the tang on the bow. Learn something new every day.
Today’s Tip: Don’t walk down the dock with your keys or your wallet in your hand.
Take Care
