New to the group with CAL 31.....

ch… [at] yahoo.com2016-02-25 18:03 UTC
Just joined. Glad to see an active group on our boats. My '79 Cal 31 "Echo" is up on the hard at Santa Cruz, CA. Everything was going well until looked at the prop strut. Bent about an inch. Managed to straighten it out, but now the bore is out of round by .01" on the back end. Going to try some tricks such as inserting the cutless from the front and seeing how far it in will go. Starting to accept the reality that replacement might be necessary. Any comments or thoughts would be appreciated. Regards, Chris

I don't know if the Cal 31 is built this way. > Managed to straighten it out, > ******* If you straightened it cold, it's probably cracked, and not useable. *Joe DeMers - owner* Sound Marine Diesel LLC SoundMarineDiesel.com <http://www.soundmarinediesel.com/>*phone & fax (860) 666-2184* > but now the bore is out of round by .01" on the back end. Thanks for your reply Joe. The rudder is off and the prop/shaft is out of the strut. Called around looking for a new strut. Everyone says send the old one and they will make one out of it. Would take a couple weeks. With the boat on the hard and $$/day, I am looking for alternatives. ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A STRUT FOR A CAL 31?
