As long as you pick a marine anti seize. The standard kind has dissimilar metals and sometimes carbon in it; as such it accelerates galvanic corrosion.
I like zinc chromate. It is a primer. You still need a top coat. Some kind of epoxy you paint would be best. You could then use marine anti seize if you wanted. I am curious if it helps any. You have to keep the water out, so a way for it to drain would be good.

When I unstepped the mast on Cal 28 “Knackered” I discovered an Eisenhower Silver Dollar epoxied onto the mast step. I did a little research, and discovered that it is an ancient shipbuilding practice to nail a coin to the base of the mast before stepping it. Theory was, you needed the coin to pay your way across the river Styx in case your voyage didn’t end well. Although tempted to chisel the dollar our and spend it, instead I added a few more coins (to cover inflation) and glassed them in next to the Dollar.
Perhaps this was a factory practice or some prior owner did it as an update.

I had another boat where I found a commemorative coin from the Mackinaw race under the mast. Which is odd since the boat was in California.

Hi, Fred. Any rare date or mint mark? Wait for the price of silver to go
back up and you can sell it.
We've always known the Cal 25 to be an commoner "everyman's" boat. I found
a penny in mine.
Cheers, Anyway
Charlie

A bit more about coins under the mast from 'Jack Tar and the Baboon Watch' by Capt. Frank Lanier:
"Copper coins are traditionally placed under the ship's mast prior to being stepped (raised) as payment to the gods in effort to procure good luck and favorable winds. Seems sailors of wooden-masted boats made a little good luck of their own by doing this. As bilge water moisture penetrated the bottom of the mast, it allowed the copper of the coin to be leached upward into the mast itself, preventing fungal growth and rot."
