Well, Folks. I was driving up to Mike's Crab House for a band gig this evening. The place shares grounds with White Rocks Marina on Rock Creek off the Magothy river not far from Annapolis. OK, the real story. I saw a Cal T/2 on blocks in the boatyard!! They are rare in this area. Cheers Charlie Annapolis

We have a friend who keeps hers in Bair Island marina in Redwood City. And there's one on our Santa Cruz dock. They have an interesting cabin/cockpit arrangement. Glad you popped up, this last week has been silent..everyone is super busy with graduations ,etc. And hopefully everybody is out on the water. Hi, Helen. My racing crew has been busy having kids. This is truly a mixed blessing for a skipper. For those unfamiliar, the Cal T/2 was designed for the MORC headroom requirement (Midget Ocean Racing Class under IOR). I think Lapworth took a Cal 27 and fiberglassed the pop top into fixed up position. Our T/2 members may have better info on the design. T/2 means “half ton”. IOR boats were denominated in “tons” – quarter, half, three quarter, one, and on. These values have nothing to do with the weight of the boat. Lapworth also built a Cal T/4 (quarter ton) with a stern mounted rudder. Hope I haven’t bored everyone with this little dissertation. never bored by T/2 talk. Raised poptop to 6'1" headroom, moved portlights to raised coachroof, kept deck flat all the way to the bow instead of dropping to shear line forward of the hatch as on th first C27. everything else identical to the first C27. good, solid (homely) old boats which sail well. A "Sleeper". 1974 Cal 27 T/2 "Knot Ready"Reggie To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com; he… [at] sbcglobal.net From: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com Date: Sun, 12 Jun 2016 09:04:07 -0400 Subject: RE: [Cal_Boats] Rare Cal Hi, Helen.
