I owned hull 61 Coyote, there was no hull number on the boat What is on your title..? I have owned 8 cal 20's and just 2 had hull # inside the transom From: "bl… [at] sbcglobal.net [Cal_Boats]" <Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com> Date: 06/22/2016 7:17 AM (GMT-08:00) To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com Subject: [Cal_Boats] Cal 20 Hull Numbers Anyone know where to find the hull number on a Cal 20 hull? I have looked in the usual spot (starboard transom). The boat is a "sub 100" hull number.

A CAL 20 with a Hull# of less than 100 would be from the early 1960's, long before the 1972 start of the USCG required 12-digit HIN. So, there will not be a Hull# on the outside of the transom unless a previous owner has properly marked the boat with a State-issued HIN issued sometime since 1989 (depending on what State the boat was registered with at that time.) However, all CAL boats had the Hull# marked on the inside of the transom, somewhere on the starboard half of the inside surface. This was done by taking what appears to be a number printed in black on a white paper label applied to the inside of the transom and covered by one thin layer of fiberglass (FG is transparent or at least translucent when wet out with resin). A previous owner may have painted over the label. Sometimes you can find hull #s under drawers and woodwork. George M... Back then there was no requirement of using a hull ID number in the form we expect today.. My boat (#1220) has the little unpainted oval space inside showing its number. Not always so. Hi, All. The PHRF numbers are assigned locally and are 5 digit numbers nowadays. Some old IOR and MORC numbers were 4 or 5 digits, and were never as low as the hull number of the boat. In an area with a one design racing fleet (e.g., J/24s or Cal 25s in Annapolis) the sail number reflects the hull number. We have one exception here in the Cal 25s. That boat came to Annapolis from Detroit. For the Cal 20s, any sail number under 2000 is a hull number (unless the owner bought someone else’s sails). Agree, yet in portland hull number is sail number except in one case, a cal 20 has sail number 000, three stooges -owned by three admittedly comic characters > On Jun 22, 2016, at 1:45 PM, vectormenow ve… [at] yahoo.com [Cal_Boats] <Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com> wrote: > > Not always so.
