Have you searched the yahoo group server? I recall discussions from years past. Some kind of retractable rope/line that could be secured to the mast while under sail. I made my own last year. Mounted a couple of blocks on the spreaders. Used regatta line because brummel splices are easy and the lines soft and easy on sail. I'm 2 hours from my boat. Will take pictures this weekend and post them. Got the pictures of my lazy jacks. I brummel spliced 1 line to form a continuous loop.(closest to boom) The second line is eye splice at both ends and has that previous line running through the splices. The third line has the second line running through eyesplices as well. Those three lines are seized to the boom evenly to allow for balanced distances on either side of the boom. The fourth line has the third line running through eyesplices then up through blocks on the spreaders. That line passes through a ring so a pull on the ring pulls both sides of the lazy jacks up at once. I control that ring with a line attached to a becket through the ring and back to the block. That line is clam cleated at the cockpit. A simple line attached to the eyes on the hoisting line and passing through the next lowest eye to the boom allows the storage of the lazy jacks along the boom. Clear as mud, right?
