New list mates, take note: this is a great example of how renewable the old Cal can be with do-it-yourself shipwright skills. Good project! George Barlow Texas

I replaced my original wood spreaders with aluminum several years back. I used G10 tube as spacers to galvanically insulate between stainless steel mounting pins and aluminum spreader. Unfortunately, I didn't do the same on the shroud side. I have stainless steel shroud sitting directly on the epoxy painted aluminum spreader.... and guess what? My nice epoxy paint is lifting ONLY on the shroud side. So, I would suggest that you make sure to add an a insulator anywhere you have aluminum/stainless interaction, both sides of the spreader in this case.
