Cabin closures

Hello everyone. I am wondering if anyone has upgraded the cabin closure. I have the two sections that slide down in with the cover that pulls over like most. I just wondering if these can be made watertight? I have a big gap.at the top. I am going into blue water across the pacific an would like it to seal up if I could. Thanks for any help you can give.

The standard addition is a sea hood--a sort of low-profile garage that
the sliding hatch slides into. In addition, there should be some sort
of retainer for the drop boards to keep them in place if the boat
capsizes. You usually see sliding barrel bolts as catches.
