Don't want to spam, but if anybody on the West Coast / Bay Areas is also interested in a Cal 2-27, I am selling one. It needs a little work but it comes with water header and fridge (the previous-previous owner must have lived aboard for a while) and it has an inboard electric motor (I got it because I was interested in the electric motor, but I am planning to move to a slightly larger boat) -- Raffaele On Fri, Sep 21, 2012 at 9:33 AM, Jim Ives <ne… [at] hotmail.com> wrote: > ** > > > Hi everyone! > > Saw this nice Cal 2-27 on the hard for sale, if anyone is interested, the > link is below. I don't think this is a 2-27 but the original 27, same hull as the T2. Because of the date 1972, I'm pretty sure the 2-27's were later than that, and because of the tall mast. I know it was an option on the 27, but not sure it was on the 2-27 (based on PHRF ratings and used sail places, they all list 27, 27TM, 2-27 and 3-27 seperately, and I don't recall seeing TM's for the 2-27 or 3-27) Anyway, would love to see more pics of this boat! Send them on. Thanks, Craig Johnson 1972 Cal T2 To: ca… [at] yahoogroups.com From: ne… [at] hotmail.com Date: Fri, 21 Sep 2012 16:33:26 +0000 Subject: [Cal_Boats] Cal 2-27 for sale Hi everyone! I don't believe it is a 2-27 if it is 5400 lbs. that was the displacement of the pop-top original 27 and the T/2. Nor would it be a 27 mark III. I think you are right Reg. The only short commings from my perspective is the side decks on both the 27/29 are too narrow to allow easy access forward. You need to get up on the coach roof and that can be tricky in bad weather. /ch r good <my… [at] hotmail.com> wrote: > >I don't believe it is a 2-27 if it is 5400 lbs. that was the >displacement of the pop-top original 27 and the T/2. Cal 2-27 for sale

Kool Beans2015-03-02 20:15 UTC
Greetings everyone! Last Friday I got the itch to go to a yard and look at some sailboats and the ice on Lake Ontario and came across a very nice Cal 2-27 for sale, by an owner who is currently restoring another sailboat. I took the opportunity to chat with the owner and he informed me that the boat is set up for racing and has won many races with it on Lake Ontario. When I looked at the boat, from the outside, it looks to be in excellent condition, and reflects the owners tedious effort to maintain her well. Her is the info below that he passed on to me and wanted the folks on the Cal group to know that it is available for sale. I have no financial interest in promoting this boat, but has established a relationship with him. The owner has vast knowledge of Cal Boats and has a lot experience to share about them. 1978 Cal 2-27 #535 Green Hull $8750 On the hard at Oak Orchard, NY Equip: Farymann diesel Pressure cold water, Refrigeration in ice chest, Raymarine ST60 instruments [wind, depth, speed], GPS, Autohelm. CDI roller furling, Lazy Jacks, Hydraulic backstay, Spinnaker gear, Halyards led to cockpit to stoppers, Boom Kicker, folding prop Shelf foot full batten main with flattening reef and two full reefs and cover, Old serviceable 150, 3 year old 140 with sacrificial cloth, Like new Mylar 150 Anchor and rode Life jacketsBoat is listed on Craig's list. Also has a steel cradle as well. If interested please respond back! Regards,Jim Ives - Kool BeansRochester, NY

Farymann engine [ was [Cal_Boats] Cal 2-27 for sale

May I comment on the Farymann diesel? It is probably a model A30M, which was, in it's day, an excellent engine. 10 horsepower at 2500 rpm, single cylinder, with roller bearing rod and crank, [ non pressurized oil system] raw water cooled. I had one in my 1978 Oday 27, which we took from CT to Key West and back. Unfortunately, parts for this engine are just about non existent. Also, the transmission was made by Nanni, and is WAY obsolete, and no parts are available. No other transmission will fit this engine. [ I do happen to have one in stock ] I would price this boat with the assumption that it will need to be repowered soon. Note that Beta Marine has a '"Farymann mount" option that makes their engine a direct replacement for the A30M. The Beta 14 will provide plenty of power to drive this boat. *Joe DeMers - owner* Sound Marine Diesel LLC SoundMarineDiesel.com <http://www.soundmarinediesel.com/>*phone & fax (860) 666-2184* On 3/2/2015 3:15 PM, Kool Beans ne… [at] hotmail.com [Cal_Boats] wrote: > > > Greetings everyone! > > Last Friday I got the itch to go to a yard and look at some sailboats > and the ice on Lake Ontario and came across a very nice Cal 2-27 for > sale, by an owner who is currently restoring another sailboat.
