Universal diesel Model 5416 oil pressure sender Location?
da… [at] q.com2016-09-27 17:20 UTC
I only want to bother the group out of frustration,
I have a 1983 Cal 31 with a Universal model 5416. It appears never to of had an oil light or oil gauge installed. I’m trying to install an oil pressure gauge. Using the schematics in the Operation and Maintenance manual of the drafted location and comparing it to the actual engine I can’t put the two together to find the location for the sender. Any direction or a better a picture of one installed would be greatly appreciated. If you don’t want to tie up the group my email is da… [at] q.com.
Thanks, David

Google: 5416 Parts Manual
Link with Eric Manchester in it is what you want. It is Item 40 on pages 4 and 5.
The factory part is just a 14psi switch for an idiot light. To do a gauge, you will need to select a gauge and sender that will fit the threads and available space.

My Cal 31 has the idiot light but much more useful than a light or even a gage, in my opinion, is the loud buzzer in parallel with the light on my boat. The buzzer can also serve as an over temperature buzzer too. The over temperature buzzer feature has saved my bacon twice on my boat over the 10 years I've had her. My Universal 5416 still going strong with the original validated hour meter at 1200 hours total.
