Bilge lockers draining?

In my last post about drainage past the steel beam Phil brought up an interesting point about draining past the bilge lockers. I would like this area to drain on its own, but mine holds almost an inch of water. I used a small rag across the width to push the water back until I could hear it fall into the deep part of the bilge where my pumps are. I would think that this was supposed to drain originally an wonder now if I am ok to try an drill, grind, or whatever works to cut a channel in the fiberglass so it does drain. I'm going to check exactly but this should be above the keel? Would love to hear all your thoughts or experiences with this area. I don't think I have much weight up front other than a 50lb dingy on my cabin top. All my tools spare parts and lines are aft. Bobby G Cal-2 30 1969 hull #55 Sent frommy iPhone
