1979 CAL39 MKII in Miami - May be destined to parts

After trying to sell my 1979 CAL39MKII which is in remarkeable good gondition, it has been a year of few potential buyers; most of them dreamers looking for a perfect 40 ft sailboat worth $20,000...their first boat, etc. I only had 4 serious buyers. One got sick, one was served divorce papers, and one was restructured into moving to Atlanta, GA if he wanted to keep his job. And...one is offering me $18,000 so he can use my mast, boom and standing rigging; my engine and trnsmission; and th deck hardware for his sailboat that suffered a severe knockdown while sailing back from bimini to miami. Wboth bats has the same mast dimensions, and my Perkins runs like a champ. This boat is not a project boat. In fact is very solid and the two appraisers who looked at it were very happy overall. So, after complaining what Robert Redford did to 3 of my boat's siblings to make his movie, well, I am looking at doing the same to a boat requiring very little investment ($5k to $10K depnding on handiness) I appreciate if you can pass the word to anybody looking for a boat. I am willing to sellmit at the same price just so it does not end up in the dumpster. You can see it at the Miami Craig list as well as many web boat sites. http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/boa/5790897748.html http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/boa/5790897748.html http://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0LEVxHDTEBYpkwAHR3BGOd_;_ylu=X3oDMTByOHZyb21tBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--/RV=2/RE=1480637764/RO=10/RU=http%3a%2f%2fmiami.craigslist.org%2fmdc%2fboa%2f5790897748.html/RK=0/RS=W6rhCenxnL2eUil1wRtokyF_xuo- http://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0LEVxHDTEBYpkwAHR3BGOd_;_ylu=X3oDMTByOHZyb21tBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--/RV=2/RE=1480637764/RO=10/RU=http%3a%2f%2fmiami.craigslist.org%2fmdc%2fboa%2f5790897748.html/RK=0/RS=W6rhCenxnL2eUil1wRtokyF_xuo- Thanks

Carlos: This is really sad and I will put out the word here on the east coast of Lake Michigan. If you don't find a buyer through conventional channels, you may think about contacting the Great Loop Cruisers Association http://greatloop.org/. You'd have to join for a year to be able to post an ad, but there are plenty of people planning this trip that don't have a boat yet - and most are not sailors. You may be able to sell off all the sails and rigging and get a decent price out of what is an efficient diesel powerboat that is comfortable and good on fuel consumption. A 6-7K cruising speed would be just fine for that trip. I made it last year in a CSY 43 with a 50HP engine and, although that boat (sans mast) was still very heavy, we managed to average less than .8 gallons per hour cruising from Chicago to Mobile. Although the draft is a bit high for some sections of the trip, this would make a great Looper boat and could even be operated without any of the sailing gear by someone who wanted a lower cost alternative to the full displacement hull trawler that most use for that trip. Please send info on a listing for this boat. It would be a shame to have it chopped up. Carlheintz ... at ... hotmail
