These folks in Winconsin have an inventory, and a Cal 28 being parted out. http://www.nandjmarine.com/browse/boatscurrentlypartingout/ Nick and Jeff both seem to be good guys. I am not affiliated. ..tom > On Dec 11, 2016, at 10:51 AM, fs… [at] torchlake.com [Cal_Boats] <Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com> wrote: > > Hi Robert, > > Don't know what part of Canada you're in...there's a sailboat wrecking yard on this side of the country in Lynden, WA. He's great but not always there which is why he insists that you call for an appt ahead of time. He has several Cals there now, the smallest listed being a Cal 22, but you can see everything on the website. > > Good luck, > > Faith > > Cal 2 34 in Bellingham, WA > > > > >> On 2016-12-11 05:21, rob la la… [at] yahoo.com [Cal_Boats] wrote: >> >> >> Thanks Ken >> >> >> Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android >> >> Hello Robert, >> Try a place in Massachusets called Mass Marine. It seems the person that gave us the boat somehow lost the Boom for this sailboat. Does anyone know of a place that I could get either a second hand boom or a new boom for this boat? Some restrictions are that I do live in Canada but we can find a Boom for this boat in am willing to pay to have it delivered to me. I was on a site that have cal sailboat parts but only for the 20ft calls. I did read somewhere I think that the 20ft cal boom would fit the 21ft cal. Anyways, love this group and thank you for any help provided. >> >> Robert Larose >> 1972 21ft Cal Hull#222 >> >> Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android >> >> >> > >

Cars usually end up in junkyards when they've been wrecked, rusted out, or met drastic mechanical disaster. But the boats look like they could be sailing with just a little time and money. Of course, we know how expectations of "a little money" go when you are working on a boat. I just got a call from my marina where the other boat lives. I had them replace my old steel centerboard--a rustbucket device--with some nice bronze I bought from an advertiser in either WoodenBoat or Good Old Boat magazines. I call it my gift to the next owner. It's only money.... Chris Campbell

that's really such a tragedy. i'd trade my cal 27 for a cal 28 in a heartbeat. where are all these cal 28s no one wants? i want one! and they are just scrapping these out.

If you’re nearby…go visit. What Jeff told me was they pick up boats that owners stop paying slip fees on. Marina slaps a lien..owners doesn’t care..marina sells boat to Jeff..Jeff parts out. Seems lucrative, if not labor intensive. BUT…I just got an exact replacement engine from him for my 25-2. Likely my well-worn, salt engine needed rings, at least, but I got a low hour, fresh-water engine for less than all the labor involved with a rebuild and I had to yank my motor anyway. Now I’ll have a few extra NEWish parts also..but I’m going out New year’s Day!
