Cal 34 for Racing

Swabs, Anyone know the story of this Cal 34 Baka? It's neglected, but under close inspection it's fully rigged for racing. A keel stepped mast, rod rigging, running backstays, two inside tracks. Pretty cool. I'm thinking of doing some of these modifications to mine. Aarrgh,We raced against Yassou over a decade and a half, usually in different classes, but on the same race course. The Cal 34 is a great racer-cruiser, with both surprising speed and substantial room below decks.But for my money nothing beats the Cal 24-1 for speed. The less the freeboard, the closer the waves, and the closer the waves as they speed by, the faster it feels like you're going...like a sports car or a go kart. There's nearly 200 sailboats on the market up and down the coast between Dana and Ventura, including a fully race equipped Cal 25 for only $2000, that races with our club this past year.
