Prop replacement

Hi everyone, Any recommendations for a new prop on my CAL34 powered by an Atomic 4 with reversing gear transmission? I can check the reduction ratio if needed.

If you go to the Moyer Marine website, they have a page on prop selection. Don Moyer is well know for his work with the A4. I used his info to rebuild an Atomic 4 that I had in a previous boat. Do check out Kiwi Props -- feathering props -- extremely simple and robust design. I have used on on my Cal 31 for 4 years now. Major increase in reverse thrust and reduction in prop walk compared to the fixed blade prop it replaced... Low cost for a feathering prop. I am very satisfied.

Check what the current prop is (diameter, pitch, left hand vs right hand, shaft diameter). All will be required to spec a replacement. I recently replaced a fixed, three blade on my Cal 39 MK2 w/ a three blade feathering MAX prop. Very happy w/ the results. Pros: Feathering is very reliable and keeps the transmission from free-wheeling while sailing Feathering added at least ½ knot to boat speed Reverse is very strong and with minimal “prop walk” Downsides are: Not as mechanically robust as fixed prop (it has moving parts after all….) Expensive Requires periodic servicing (every other year it gets stripped down, cleaned and regreased.)
