Don, did you get end caps with the boom? Do you have a slider with it for
mast attachment?
What is the diameter of the holes in mast spreader brackets?
Might be good for you to post some photos of what you presently have to
better guide those giving advice.

Subject: running rigging
Hi everyone, need some shots of the cockpit area with emphasis on the boom
and tiller. Did not get a rigged boom so need thoughts on placement of
everything needed. Also did not get spreaders and need to obtain a source
for spreaders compatible with the 2-27. I believe I have an original spar.
Any photos of fully rigged boats will be very useful. Many thanks, Don

Thanks so much for the support. I am currently grinding the gooseneck
fittings to "make" them compatible. Perhaps you know of a chandler that
might recognize the two pieces and make a suggestion? I have both ends and
will send photos. I have so many more questions than answers,..suggest
maybe we take them a few at a time? Need a tiller. Anybody got a maker or
model to suggest? In the meantime, just feel my gratitude for the group's
being there. Hope I can reciprocate in some way in the future.

Here's what I have for spreaders. There will be two pins running through
the mast ends from top to bottom as it appears right now. Open on the
sides,

Don,
We recently sold our 2-27 having spent 15 years replacing, upgrading and
maintaining it's many original systems, rigging, etc. In the process we
replaced the spreaders and the tiller.
Tiller - we found that the stock version of the Catalina 27 tiller - widely
available - fit perfectly for us. Check the U-shaped bracket base
measurements. A tiller cover kept our new tiller like new for years,
great investment.
Spreaders - we (ok, my woodworking husband!) replaced our spreaders with
clear spruce, painted them white. Held up great and were still on the boat
when we sold it.
Good luck with your projects!
Now the proud new owners of a 1976 Cal 34 III (new project boat!) - but we
loved the 2-27 and it was hard to let her go.
