blockquote, div.yahoo_quoted { margin-left: 0 !important; border-left:1px #715FFA solid !important; padding-left:1ex !important; background-color:white !important; } Not that I plan to mount a knotmeter but reading the owner manual it mentions the two sole plates and says "the forward plate is for the ballast and is a good place for the installation of a knotmeter"I haven't put any thought into the forward sole plate and it's purpose. But now I'm curious. Any input is appreciated. I also have a question about standing rigging tension after reading the manual but that's another email. In my 227 the knotmeter is mounted through the side of the keel in the bilge at the aft sole plate. I don’t know how you would mount a knotmeter at the forward sole plate.
