It's important for people to know about what makes the boat special. I've just ordered a new mainsail for my other boat. This is my 50th season on that boat. The old main has been in service for about 45 years. It suddenly occurred to me that I will be 90 when the new sail hits 20 years. !!! Yesterday the latest issue of /Good Old Boat/ magazine arrived. In the back there's an ad for a local Dickerson 35, a wooden boat. I've known the original owner who had her built and a second long-term owner, both gone for years. The boat sails on. The basic notion is that it's important to pass on a boat in good condition so others can enjoy sailing and appreciate the vessel, when the time comes. Good boats tend to attract good people and to go on sailing. Chris Campbell
