Lapworth36 for sale
Allen Edwards2017-11-04 03:48 UTC
A fellow owner is selling his L-36. I am pretty sure it is the most
beautiful example in the fleet. It is boat show winning beautiful and it
has the trophies to prove it. If anyone knows someone crazy enough to own
a wood boat, let me know and I will put you in touch with the owner. The
boat is Ole.

Allen,
I saw what looked to be a derelict L-36 in the mooring field off Sausalito as I passed by. It was very sad to see such a beautiful design allowed to go to waste. What I contrast to the work of art that is Ole.
I don’t want a wooden boat. I cannot adequately take care of two plastic ones, but I can certainly admire them. Lovely.

I'm in Jerry's position. Neither of my boats is perfect. Perfect is for
those who don't have jobs or who can afford to hire out all the work.
The rest of us, we try to make them look respectable and sail safely,
and we go sailing. The Cal 20 was supposed to be a temporary boat, but
after 19 seasons in my care we can say that those plans went awry. It's
important to like your boat.
The write-up on the Lapworth mentioned mast repairs after the accident.
I had the same issue with my iceboat. After stopping too fast too many
times (invisible slush under snow on the ice), my original spruce mast
just exploded one day as I was sailing along. Our boats aren't rigged to
accommodate the forward forces you get in sudden deceleration.
