We are new. We have owned our Cal 39 for less than an year. I don't care what platform we use to talk together. Facebook, yahoo.... myspace (if it's even alive still). Cal Sailboats and those who own them is what I'm interested in. We bought an 83 Cal39 MKIII that is at best needing. We are bringing her back to life and her..... us. I've been working on her almost a year now. Rotten deck cores and bulkheads, but as I work away the more I love what I find. You see, I've done this many times with all sorts of boats. But this girl is special. These boats.... CAL's are special. I'm finding the details and the hand made specialness. I don't care how I find those that realize this.... We just want to. In making a prior reply, I had just walked over to my three-ring binder boat collection. Under "my boats" I found my Cal 20 info, including a piece from /Practical Sailor /from 1991. It was the 30th anniversary of the Cal 20, you see, and they wanted to honor the little boat. How many consumer products get 30th birthday write-ups, anyway? My boat isn't perfect. I can show you many deficiencies. But she's a sweet little vessel anyway, well designed for sailing and built with enough care that she's still sailing 50 years after she came out of Jensen Marine's shop. Chris Campbell > > >
