Selling Cal 24-T/4, Bill Lapworth Classic Design
Sadly I find myself having to sell my Cal 24-T/4 after many years of enjoying it here in Arizona. I am moving from Arizona and unable to take the boat with me. I am trying to find someone who would like to have it. If you have an interest in it or know of someone who might like to have a great little boat, please let me know.
I have it listed on Ebay and local Craigslists for $950. I do not have a trailer and the buyer would have to take over the slip ($249/month) or pull it out. I am more interested in finding someone that will enjoy it than in getting the asking price.
This is a fast (for its age), solid and very stable blue-water boat originally intended to be raced/cruised in near-offshore conditions. I have actively sailed as it is while trying to finish a floating restoration. Had too much fun sailing it and let the restoration work slip. Still it is a very doable project.
Includes: 8HP Nissan outboard with electric start, battery and trickle charger as well as complement of sails and other equipment too numerous to list. Also comes with set of blueprints that were signed by the designer, William Lapworth before he passed away.
Some specs: 1973 Build Date; Hull #37; 24 ft LOA; 8 ft Beam; 4000 lbs Displacement; 2000 lbs Fixed Lead Keel (fully fiberglass encapsulated, bolts replaced and retorqued in 1999, keel sump has never leaked); 4 ft Draft. Sleeps 3-4 and makes a really nice weekender for two people or small family.
Boat has been in Arizona and in fresh water at the Canyon Lake Marina since 1999. All standing rigging as well as all running rigging was replaced in 2001 and has never seen salt water.
Currently undergoing restoration while being actively sailed as is. The cabin overhead delaminated/rotted due to deck leaks before being brought to Arizona. The rotten plywood core has been removed from the inside while leaving the cabin deck topsides intact. This was the hardest part of the restoration work. The wood core is being replaced/rebuilt and is nearly finished as of this posting. Once that is completed, the boat can continue to be sailed as it has been all along, or, if you are a stickler for looks and are handy with paint/carpet/wood refinishing, you can continue restoring it at your own pace while enjoying sailing it as I have.
The move is the only reason why I am selling the boat.
Again let me know if you know someone ...
